Interesting. Prosper Lambertini's book on the Canonisation of Saints was published, during his reign, under his papal name (Benedict XIV), so I guess there is some precedent for that – but not the magisterial aspect that you mention.
If the Pope or clergy are wrong in what they are telling people , we have the right to disagree with them.
Need to read the article a bit more carefully to see how that statement can be true and false in different respects.
