They'll try and tell us why they don't, but it's pretty contrived.

Thank you for this article. I am now at peace regarding myself as a sedevacantist.

Praise be to God.

Very helpful in clarfying the issues and arguments. May God bless and protect these Sisters as they sincerely strive for holiness, living out their charism and vocations in the Roman Catholic faith. And may God have mercy on us all, until, with God's intervention, this Crisis in the Church is resolved.

I find it humorous how Conservative N.O. Catholics will attempt to use the traditional Catholic teachings on Ecclessiology against Trads while at the same time their own false sect has totally revised these teachings to be so broad as to include practically all religious bodies, including the Jews. Does: "all religions are a path to God" sound familiar?

S.D. Wright's avatar

Really that last comment would have been adequate in place of this article!

Agreed. I recently reread the 2002 letter from Cardinal Hoyos to +Fellay, chastising him for his criticisms of Vatican II and the conciliar church, by citing Vatican I to compel obedience to Vatican II!

It seems to have had the desired effect.

But the letter was useful at least in this respect: It showed mentevacantism is not real; these men know full well what the traditional doctrines of the Church are, but only use them to horsewhip trads who still care.

You are absolutely right in your conclusion. The writing is on the wall with Vatican II and its disastrous consequences. And the Novus Ordo hierarchy will do whatever they can to save their baby. Their thinking is something like: Let them go to the Indultist groups— there, they can get their rations of tradition and not stir up trouble. Even SSPX is permissible in light of capitulations in recent years. But we cannot risk losing them to the sedevacantists. Unbridled Catholic tradition and Catholic truth is beyond the pale.

Schnieder himself is a heretic with regards to traditional Catholic teaching but also regarding his conciliar/synodal sects teachings where he's in disagreement with their doctrine on schismatics and heretics. Or maybe it's just that sedevacantism is so far divorced from protestantism and other false religions that it doesn't even make it onto the Venn diagram of those incorporated into the new one-world-church. Something to be thankful for and rejoice about 🙂

I’m saving this post for future reference. I have a feeling I’ll be needing it. The problem is that synochurchmen are antithetical to the truth even when it hits them between the eyes.

S.D. Wright's avatar

Unfortunately so. We should pray and make sacrifices for them and those subject to them.

Sam's avatar

Do they hold the "Sedeprivationism" position ?

Sam's avatar

The original thesis was heretical

However, the original thesis of Bishop Guérard des Lauriers no longer exists. I assume you are aware that he did not believe a so called "material" pope was capable of creating Cardinals ? And that the election of "Pope" JPII was only valid because their existed 10 cardinals who were validly created at the conclave.

And because of this, what is called the thesis today is the creation of Donald Sanborn, "thesis 2.0". Interestingly though Donald Sanborn never mentions that.

John Lewis's avatar

The new thesis is based upon a heretical premise so yeah…

Michael Rex's avatar

Do you have a citation regarding the non-creation of cardinals? My reading of the Thesis is that, while the act is not per se valid (i.e., not valid from any authority of the material pope), it is validated by God for the good of the Church (i.e., God supplies the defect of authority in the canonical/juridical act of the material pope for the preservation of the existence/visibility of the Church).

"The validity of a conclave is obviously a matter of canonical power.

In all these cases, it is not impossible that such a doubtful or even presumed invalid act of 'authority' should in fact have the scope which it must have by nature, in virtue of a divinely granted substitution." (Cassiciacum Thesis, under heading "c) The question of substitution for non-infallible magisterial power and for canonical power")

This seems to conform to the opinions of Zapelena and Wilmers, whom Fr. Despósito references in his article "The Apostolicity of the Church and the Cassiciacum Thesis," p. 14, ft. 42, which implies that this view is at least tolerated, if not accepted, by Bp. Sanborn.

Heretics are not Catholic, if you are not Catholic you can't hold office. It is amazing how this consistent teaching of the church throughout her history has been rejected. And by rejecting it the individual themselves becomes a heretic. Just another reason why we are in the state we are today. Donald Sanborn has caused a great deal of harm

Michael Rex's avatar

The Thesis denies that the putative conciliar popes hold office. Its proponents very clearly expound the implications of heresy (in all relevant senses of the term) on the holding of office, thoroughly citing [pre-conciliar] theologians. Cf., e.g., Fr. Dutertre's articles available at thethesis.us .

The point about the Great Western Schism not being a real schism in the unity of faith from each other is a great point which I needed to know. Thank you and God Bless!

This is a great article. Thanks for writing it.

Dear Fathers Gilbeau and Schneider,

You cannot be schismatic if Rome is in a state of apostasy.

When they say “the sisters should be in communion with Rome,” they mean that they should be under the thumb of a “nun,” Sr Merletti, or is it Brambilla (they are wholly interchangeable, these fake nuns), who says “God is a woman”. These men are all worthless idiots with nothing at all where their souls once were.

RosaryKnight's avatar

Even more than your average pre-V2 church, these nuns are seen as a serious threat to the V2 sect since too many people will learn about them & be attracted to them & to what they represent: authentic Catholicism, reflecting divine truth, goodness & beauty.

As you say, "And that cannot be allowed."

Sean Johnson's avatar

I understand these conciliar Dominicans.

I understand why they have the wayward views on sedevacantism they do, because I myself had them (and for the same reasons).

Because of that, I also understand how difficult it will be to overcome their prejudices, which they will perceive as sound doctrine...but with a muted voice in the back of their minds questioning what they are representing in the conciliar religion.

The more strident the denunciation, the more desperate they are to snuff that voice, which they think a threat against the faith (because that is what the devils are whispering to them).

It would take a full length article (minimally) to explain this all, and a comments box is probably not the right place, so I'll leave it at this, until it can be more fully developed:

Read Cardinal Newman's "Present Position of Catholics in England" (1851). Its all about prejudice and ignorance as being the sustaining principle of Protestantism...and the same is most assuredly true regarding conciliarism.

Some day I will have more to say in that regard, God willing.

Thanks for the article. These Sisters remind me of 16 Carmelite nuns from Compiègne during French Revolution.

I blushed to see my posts quoted. ha.

You are right, these women clearly trigger something in these men; the sisters represent what Vat 2 meant to destroy, but there it is, alive and well. A cynical grizzled old sinner myself, they confront me too. I am grateful this makes me bow my head in shame, and does not make me want to lash out at them to protect me from my own sense of lack. God bless them, and all of us through them.
