The Vatican is not Catholic anymore. Pope has no say about SSPX. The SSPX is more Catholic than the Vatican. Pope Leo 12 is a leader over Vatican only!

I agree he cannot be Catholic, so why refer to him as "pope"?

Those six Bishops are more Catholic than Pope Leo 14

I believe that those six Bishops are more Catholic too.

The problem is the SSPX regard Vat II and Leo as Pope yet pick and choose as they deem fit. Which goes against all of the Church teachings whether the SSPX deem it just or unjust including that of disciplinary actions.

The only way out was simply for the SSPX to get off the fence which they have not done and declare, Vat II is a false religion, false church, false teachings, Pope and prelates. Declare it an anathema, and cut themselves free from their erroneous standpoint.

This article gives me a lot to consider. So many people have weighed in over the past several days, with various takes and various degrees of seriousness— who knew the internet held so many historians who were also theologians and canon lawyers?

But in all seriousness, this WM Review article is helpful for someone like myself, who is just trying to sort out what to do going forward. I appreciate that the author is treating the situation with the gravity and objectivity it warrants.

Thank you! I am not a historian, theologian or a canon lawyer - just someone trying to present the relevant Catholic doctrine and authorities!

The wrong Bishops are being excommunicated by the Sons of Vatican II.

Should I outlive Fernandez, I'll be alive for the spectacle of the ape church declaring him a saint.

They will canonize Francis the Worst before then.

Prevost has no more authority to excommunicate anyone than the homeless man yelling on the street corner. Valid catholic bishops are necessary to the mission of the Church, there is no Pope to give a mandate, epikeya applies.

Does anyone believe that Jesus would welcome a homosexual and writer of homosexual pornography into heaven?

Does anyone believe Jesus would welcome a heretic, promoter of homosexuality, and idolater into heaven?

If not, why should anyone accept what Smoocho and Prevost say on anything to do with Unam, Sanctam, Catolicam et Apostolicam Ecclesiam Jesus established?

"But all things are not equal." This is the crucial point. What is happening in the Vatican is utterly unprecedented. If people truly believe that "nothing ensures that popes, bishops, priests, and their flocks, through ignorance, laziness, and spiritual weakness will not be tempted to believe the most blatant distortions of alternative good stories, conclude that their false recipes for the Christian life are reconcilable with and beneficial to the cause of their supernatural Faith, and act accordingly..." (this absurd quote from John Rao "Black Legends") then this blanket 'common error' just plods on. Also who can prove that the SSPX higher ups truly understand that you can’t separate the proximate and remote rule – who is gonna do that given that what people think is the proximate rule daily destroys and despises the remote rule?

For myself I pray the scales fall from the SSPX eyes and the Society declare these creepy little Castros in the Vatican ‘Null and Void’. It’s enough.

One should remind Cardinal Fernandez (La pasión mística, ch. 8) of his own words: "In those cases, the person can do things that are objectively sinful, without being guilty[...]".
