Very many Catholic theologians hold that the universal and peaceful adherence of the Church to a man as pope is an infallible sign that the man is the true pope. But does it hold for Francis?
I believe there might be a typo in the section entitled "What does it mean to peacefully adhere to the Roman Pontiff?" First, we read: “[...] living rule which the Church must follow in belief and always follows in FACT,” and then: “living rule which the Church must follow in belief and always follows in FAITH.”
As always, superbly written: clear, concise, and well-researched. While I struggle with these questions, this website has been an oasis.
Edit: I had to remove some markdown code because it doesn't seem to work in comments.
