A good homily. If only the RCI didn’t have a policy of declining communion to Catholics who have usually attend the SSPX. That would be an example of supernatural charity that conforms to the spirit of Christ and would make him very happy. Alas their current position, practical though it may be isn’t in this spirit. I would happily encourage them otherwise.
I appreciate what you wrote on Mgr. Guerard des Lauriers being a probable saint, at least I'm thankful for his legacy since because of that I have occasionally Sacraments available.
He was deeply consistent in his actions, despite the ridicule and marginalization he faced. I can only imagine the cost of being a public sedevacantist (or sedeprivationist) Bishop in his 80s - in 1980s, when barely anyone held similar views. Yet he was honest.
I mean it's easier to go against the grain when you are younger, but after you're 80... and THEN take on the episcopacy, while facing desertion from every side... The good old man resembled martyred Eleazar of Machabees II, who was called to testify of the Faith when 90 years old. Mgr. Guerard died at 89, after long life of fidelity.
A very courageous soul, who deserves our esteem, the more so for being denied it during his life. In the Last Judgement we shall truly see, I expect him to shine brightly then.
